About the event
Kay Douglas presents a powerful solo exhibition in Massachusetts featuring 31 original works and a thought-provoking mural that invites the public into an urgent conversation: Who is afforded justice in a world where there is no peace?
At the heart of the show are two ongoing portrait series:
"Women of the Antebellum", a tribute to Black women whose stories of resilience and resistance have been historically overlooked,
and "If All Black Men Were Pacifists", a meditation on masculinity, perception, and the burden of presumed threat placed on Black bodies.
Each piece is layered, both visually and conceptually, drawing viewers into an experience that is as emotionally resonant as it is historically grounded. The exhibition culminates in a participatory mural that invites reflection and dialogue around race, power, and historical memory.
This show is not just an invitation to view art, it is a call to engage.
